Clinical Psychologist
Location: Preston/Leyland/Darwin
Salary: £41,462 to £45,282 per annum
Hours:  40 hours per week
 
The company is an innovative provider of education and care for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities with an ambitious growth plan.
 
The post will work as part of a therapy team in North West schools. The schools provide flexible day placements for students aged 5 to 19 years with communication and associated difficulties or specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia. Some may be on the autistic spectrum or have anxieties and difficulties that create barriers to learning. 
 
This is an exciting new post that has been created to develop and embed the school’s clinical offer to young people. The school uses multifaceted and therapeutic approach that aims to address the whole person, taking into consideration clinical biological, physiological and psychological aspects. The post holder will work collaboratively with school staff to deliver bespoke assessment and intervention plans for our young people.
 
The post will be providing a systematic high quality psychology service within our schools, working with others to promote the wellbeing and best interests of our young people.  This will endorse the effectiveness of school’s educational offer to achieve our aim of providing the highest quality service to our young people and ensuring a provision in line with best practice guidelines and internal policies and procedures.
 
The post will involve undertaking Clinical Psychology/Psychotherapy duties whilst adhering to professional and regulatory guidelines, you will carry out assessments, design individualised plans and strategies. As well as implementing evidence-based therapeutic interventions; report writing and multi-professional reviews you will provide advice, information, and training to staff, as well as parents, commissioners, and other agencies.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • Post-graduate doctoral level in Clinical Psychology or Psychotherapy equivalent
  • Registered with the HCPC and BPS or equivalent
  • Experienced in working with young people with ASD and complex needs
  • Evidence of continuing professional development relevant to the setting
  • Substantial and relevant post-qualification experience with children and young people Good knowledge of relevant psychometric tools
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Full valid UK driving licence and access to a car
