Search: Business Development Manager

Client: Confidential International Ortho Device Company

Industry: Medical Devices

Company size: 10,000+ employees

About The Company

This company manufactures and distributes one of the leading global ranges of orthopaedic, cardiovascular, general-surgery, and critical care devices among others across their medical device portfolio of over 5000 products.

They have set about in advancing the standard of both devices and care worldwide, to increase the overall global standard of health.

The Challenge

The business development manager was tasked with increasing the company presence in private and NHS centres across the Greater London area in the joint reconstruction market segment. They would have experience of selling into such groups, dealing with both clinicians and procurement, and providing specialist product training on the devices as required.

They would have a wealth of experience in the orthopaedic sector in order to “hit the ground running” with regards to anatomical and product knowledge, and would have the capacity to increase the customer/client base for the company in the assigned territory, as well as deepen account penetration with existing KOLs to expand the already thriving business.

Gilbert Meher were engaged in competition with other agencies to find someone who fit the above criteria, and displayed a certain tenacity and enthusiasm to take on this challenging role.

The Solution

As this was something of an urgent role, a 2-week search and selection was undertaken, sourcing active candidates in the sector, and with relevant experience. Close contact was maintained with the client to ensure timely feedback on submissions, and if any tweaks were needed to the profiles of candidates presented. The company was kept anonymous until the point of contact, whereby the candidates engaged in a thorough process encompassing a video cover letter, face-to-face interview, scrubbing-in on a surgery, and finally a presentation to the orthopaedic company leaders.

The Result

Relevant candidates were screened, pre-interviewed by one of the Gilbert Meher Medical Device consultants, and finally presented for shortlisting. After the hiring process was complete, an experienced and tested candidate was appointed for the company and began carrying out their role, as well as on-the-job training to accompany their duties
